LFS UK 2024 took place this year on September 14th, at the International Student House in Central London. We had a great turn out in what is a new venue for us. It was a chance to meet up with old friends, meet new people and to get an update on a wide range of studies and projects from across the country.
Mette Jorgensen – from Great Ormond Street Hospital, gave a presentation on Children With LFS – learning from her cancer predisposition surveillance clinic.
Lydia Taylor – from the Royal Marsden Hospital, presented results from the SIGNIFIED study on whole-body MRI.
Miriam Dixon-Zegeye – from Oxford University, gave an update on the MILI trial of metformin as a cancer prevention drug in LFS.
Pan Pantziarka – chairman of the Trust, introduced the Anticancer Fund’s My Cancer Navigator patient information service, which has proved very useful to a number of people with LFS already.
Aimee Teresa – one of our most passionate LFS advocates – spoke about her experiences with IVF, with a very vocal Iris (as shown above) on hand to add emphasis!
Christ Stevens – an LFS ambassador for the Trust – told us about the LiNCR conference and what it meant to him and the broader LFS community.
Raheleh Rahbari and Joe Christopher – of the Sanger Institute – presented on LiFTS (Li Fraumeni over Time Study).
Emma Woordward – Manchester University – discussed LFS: early detection strategies (presentation still to come).
As always we are extremely grateful to our friends at the Addie Brady Foundation for co-funding the conference and helping us develop the LFS community.
