    Hi
I was just wondering if anyone knows, if you do have Li Fraumeni syndrome is it safe to do IVF? Are all the IVF drugs safe to take, or would it increase your chance of cancer?

    Thank you

I saw an article on a couple called Halfords who live in Coleford in Somerset who had IVF with embryo screening at the same time. PGD I think it’s called. Worth looking at? They have had a healthy baby now

Yes. Had a look. PGD can screen the embryo to ensure no TP53 mutation.

But are the drugs your take to create extra embryo’s for the IVF process safe if you had a LFS?

To be honest I don’t think anyone’s done that specific piece of research. However, you’d expect that hormone dependent cancers would be at a higher risk of being influenced than TP53-dependent ones. Researchers have looked at the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in women with BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations and not found an increased cancer risk after IVF. I see no reason why that should be different for TP53 mutation carriers.
